The surface of the paulownia wood is baked and carefully polished. It's a surprisingly light and easy-to-use tray that goes well with both Japanese and Western styles.

[Kanazawa paulownia craft] This is a traditional craft born in Kanazawa, a castle town where the traditional culture of Kaga Hyakumangoku is still alive today. Made of high-quality paulownia wood, the surface is burnt and polished to give it a soft and warm burnt surface that becomes amber and becomes more flavorful as you use it. In 1988, it was certified as a traditional craft by Ishikawa Prefecture.
